| AlpineF#1Status made its debut in the Paris Motor Show 2000.
I felt that was a perfect stage, almost as if it was prepared just for us. We
had just finished the system and had an installation expert put it into a custom
Mercedes AMG S55, just in time for that event the largest automobile event in
Europe. Fortunately, it won prize after prize, and began to build up a formidable
reputation. The downside of that was we felt a great deal of pressure to maintain
our number one spot the next time. This time, though, we concentrated on putting
together a good and enthusiastic team, and used the pressure more as a springboard
or an incentive. We wanted to create components that would be much more than just
the ‘best on the block,’ but would capture the ‘pole position’
in a real race in other words, be the best in the world. |
