| Let me talk about the new AlpineF#1Status system. The main
engineering problems in producing good sound in the car are to properly compensate
for the special acoustic anomalies in the car. The noise inherent in driving is
a really huge problem. Initially, we sought to solve the fundamental problems
in sound image, sound field, and sound quality to get the best sound. We soon
realized this would require a whole new and unique set of technological approaches,
since the stationary environment of home audio has no such problems or solutions.
Conventional technology for automatic noise compensation ends up messing up the
music by altering the frequency content or by working too slowly to be effective
because it lacks real-time processing. To do the job properly, we had to develop
the system from scratch and use our best and latest sound technologies and know-how.
