Sound System Engineering 02/02
Hitoshi Saito "Tuning an audio system is like bringing together the members of anorchestra, getting the sound balance right, and making sure they work together."
Fighting fire with fire—solving digital problems through application of digital technology based on Micro Dynamics
This system was designed in particular to create the best in-car sound and satisfy the digital demands of the DVD age. As such, from start to finish, we struggled against digital noise. With the exceptionally high resolution and dense data content of DVD Audio, system noise—from the power supply and switching noise, to the miniscule ‘microscopic’ noise sources in the circuitry and between systems—required entirely new levels of noise measurement tools and solutions. Our no-compromise Micro Dynamics methodology fueled our investigations and resulted in complex time-axis processing of the sound. As each instance of noise or previously ignored interference was solved, yet another veil or layer of fog was lifted away, gradually leaving the purest sound, a sonic image of the music never before perceived.

When we listened to this exceptionally focused sound—sound that starts in absolute accuracy and purity with the DVI-9990 DVD/CD player and undergoes meticulous time-axis adjustments and corrections with the digital processing of the PXI-H990—we were delighted and overjoyed with the results, completely forgetting all the troubles and hard work that went into the system.
